Building on its extensive experience in observation and reporting SAR incidents, National Coastwatch has now become a national voice in water safety and accident prevention.
Alongside our Coastguard and Lifeboat colleagues, working with the National Water Safety Council, we have developed messages which will advance awareness of water safety for all types of coastal users across all generations.
We have developed leaflets, posters and give-away items which will promote specific safety messages for coast path and cliff walkers, beach users and swimmers, boarders and paddlers, jet ski and small power crafter users and dinghy and small yacht users.
We will also be promoting the RNLI’s Float to Live campaign and providing information about Cold Water Shock, Flotation Devices, carrying a means of calling for help (eg a mobile phone in a waterproof pouch) and tides and rip currents.
