Minehead

Watchkeeper volunteers are providing operational Watches from a temporary station on Minehead seafront. Watches are currently 1000hrs to 1300hrs, and 1300hrs to 1600hrs on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, with other ad-hoc days added according to Watchkeeper availability.

We are recruiting new members for volunteer Watchkeepers, Assistant Watchkeepers and supporters.

We are currently providing operational watches from our temporary station on Minehead seafront; working towards establishing a brand new permanent station near Warren Road car park / opposite the entrance to Butlins.

We are looking for local businesses to become Business Ambassadors, to share our life-saving literature and posters, and to host donation collection tins for our charitable cause.

We are able to accept visitors to our temporary station. We are seeking funding and donations to help us provide Eyes Along the Coast, to help keep our coast and inshore waters safe.

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire. 

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
