Present Weather Conditions at NCI Stations around the Solent
Contact NCI stations on VHF channel 65 for an observational estimate of local weather conditions at the station. At many stations data from the weather station is available on the internet via the Weatherlink website and Weatherlink app both provided by the Davis Instruments company. However remember that conditions at a coastal site may not be representative of conditions over the water, especially when the wind is blowing from land towards the sea.

Other Sources of Solent Weather Data
Bramblemet weather station is situated on a post on the southern side of Bramble Bank and the data is usually representative of conditions in the central Solent. The Royal Lymington Yacht Club Starting Platform is a source of weather data in the western Solent, close to the entrance to Lymington Harbour, however it is relatively near the shore.
Other weather stations are available situations on the Solent shores. However remember that, since all these locations are onshore or close to it, the observations may not represent conditions over the open water. In particular wind speed and direction may be affected by nearby buildings and obstructions. These weather stations include: Calshot Activities Centre, Hill Head Sailing Club, Gurnard Sailing Club, Hurst Castle, Yarmouth Pier, and Lymington Yacht Haven.
