Coastguard seek help from NCI Porthcawl

NCI Porthcawl were alerted to persons stuck in the mud at Newton Point. They commenced a visual search of the Newton Point area, but nothing was sighted. Milford Haven Coastguard asked NCI Porthcawl if they could scan the area around Newton Point, although there was no description of the casualty available. The first informant reported to the Coastguard that the casualty was now stuck in the mud up to his neck. NCI Porthcawl were able to confirm the location of the casualty as being near the rocks at the centre of the beach lying flat in the mud. This was visible by one of the cameras in the lookout, which the Coastguard were able to link to and monitor. The Fire service attended the scene and extracted him from the mud. The casualty was assisted up the beach by the fireman and was checked over by the Coastguard Rescue Team.
