A £700 grant from Cornwall Council Leader Linda Taylor’s community chest enabled NCI St Ives to carry out essential repairs to their Davis weather station which monitors conditions at the lookout. Councillor Taylor, who represents St Ives (East, Lelant and Carbis Bay) visited the National Coastwatch lookout station on the Island and said “I’m very pleased to have been able to support NCI St Ives. I’m a follower of their Facebook page and when I saw they were seeking funding for the repairs I thought ‘I can help here’”.
Councillor Taylor, who met station manager Trevor Peake and Helen Simpson, the former manager who is now the NCI’s regional trustee for Cornwall, added: “I admire the work the volunteers do. It’s a big commitment they all make to help keep people safe around the coast.”
