30th April 2023 SOS Radio Week is a month of fun and an opportunity for amateur radio operators to celebrate the work of the National Coastwatch Institution, the RNLI and other independent lifeboat and rescue organisations around the coasts of the British Isles (UK, Ireland, Channel Islands and Isle of Man). In doing so it aims to raise as much awareness for these organisations.
SOS Radio Week starts at 00:00 on the 1st May and end at 23:59 on 31st May every year. Its objective is to raise awareness of the invaluable, and amazingly selfless, work performed by the volunteers of the NCI, RNLI and independent lifeboats. Both the NCI and the RNLI are funded 100% by voluntary donations, many of the independent lifeboat and rescue organisations are too.
