It’s a good insight into the coastal safety work that involves our skilled teams of volunteers in nearly 60 stations around England and Wales.

If you’ve ever thought about volunteering and would like a role with a great view, this could be for you.  We welcome people from all walks of life, and you don’t need any maritime experience either. Along the coastline of England and Wales volunteers from the National Coastwatch Institution keep a sharp look out to help keep the coastline safe. In Essex, there are two stations based in the Thames Estuary, one at Canvey Island and the other at Thorpe Bay.
