NCI HENGISTBURY HEAD REPORTS FIRST INCIDENT OF THE YEAR FOR A SECOND TIME

1st January 2023. For the second year in a row, the volunteer watchkeepers at the National Coastwatch Institution station at Hengistbury Head have reported the first incident of the New Year.

This year, HM Coastguard had tasked the Inshore Lifeboat to two separate incidents involving wind surfers in difficulty. The NCI volunteer watchkeepers were able to guide the lifeboat to one casualty and report to HM Coastguard that the second wind surfer had made it bto the beach and had self-rescued. As a result, the Lifeboat was stood down
