DORSET VOLUNTEER CENTRE RECOGNISE NCI ST ALBANS HEAD

14th November 2019. The National Coastwatch Institution volunteers from the St Albans station were recognised for their work by the Dorset Volunteer Centre.

In October, the National Council for Voluntary Organisations held their annual awards evening. During this glittering event, the team from NCI St Albans Head were awarded the Volunteer Group of the Year by the Dorset Volunteer Centre.

This is well-earned recognition from the NCVO Dorset Volunteer Centre and congratulations to all the volunteer NCI watchkeepers providing the ‘Eyes Along The Coast’ at St Alban's Head

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire.

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
