Our satellite at Charmouth

We are delighted that since May 2016 we have a 'satellite station' operating at Charmouth - just a short distance west along the Jurassic Coast but affording a much better view of the Lyme Regis end of the bay. We operate as one LymeBay team, training and working together. We are in regular contact with each other throughout our watches and qualified watchkeepers may work at either location.

Opening Hours

We are working to continue to extend our Charmouth opening hours. We are currently working Tuesday to Thursday 1100-1500 and  Friday to Monday 1000-1800.

Telephone Number

General queries should be addressed to the LymeBay station manager. The Charmouth Lookout number for maritime and coastal operational queries such as tides or real time weather conditions is 01297-255076 and will only be answered in opening hours. Note: incidents always take priority and if we are busy we may ask you call back later.

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire.

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
