How To Find Us

If visiting Newhaven by car, from the A259 road in Newhaven town centre, follow signs for 'Newhaven Fort' on the one way system. The signs will lead you into Fort Road. Follow this road past a Co-Op store at a mini roundabout, a recreation ground on your right and a boatyard on your left.

You will see ahead of you a very large green sign for 'Newhaven Fort' with a prominent arrow. Turn sharp right at the sign and follow the track up the hill and under a green height restriction barrier. Note the car park opening hours at the barrier. Follow the track uphill and to the left where it opens into the Fort car park which is a free public car park.

Walk west uphill, either along the cliff path or up the metalled track near the car park entrance, towards the tall communications mast at the top of the cliffs. NCI Newhaven station is at the foot of the communications mast.

If visiting Newhaven by train, alight at Newhaven Town station and turn left out of the exit. Walk west over the swing bridge and turn left to follow the one-way road system After a short distance you will see a sign for 'Newhaven Fort' which will lead you into Fort Road. At that point, follow the instructions as above. The walk will take about forty minutes from the rail station to the lookout.

For access to NCI Newhaven lookout, follow the instructions on the wire gate to the lookout compound. Please note that there are five steep flights of metal stairs from ground level to the lookout floor. Although normally welcome, during national pandemic restrictions visitors cannot be accepted at the lookout.
