Aberystwyth

Welcome to NCI Aberystwyth.

Our station here in Aberystwyth on the West coast of Wales is situated at the top of Constitution Hill at the far end of North beach promenade. There is no public access for vehicles/motor bikes to the top of Constitution Hill. The climb up the hill is quite steep and uneven underfoot. But it does have a cliff railway for those less energetic to make the journey to the top. The Aberystwyth Cliff Railway is the second longest funicular railway in the British Isles. Please check with them for their opening times which varies during the year. Once at the top of 'Consti' as it is known locally you will find a cafe an obscura and gift shop and a games room as well as some fantastic views and also the Aberystywth to Borth section of the coastal path.

Our station is a small mobile unit painted blue with gold lettering and we can be found at the rear end of the games room and we are on watch every Saturday and Sunday and bank Holidays throughout the year with the exception of Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Visitor Policy
Visitors are welcome at all times providing we are not involved with any ongoing incident
Access

Access to the station is either by foot, which can be a bit arduous for some people or by the Cliff Railway a more gentle way of ascending the hill. The ground is fairly uneven but the veiws are well worth the journey up the hill whichever way you make it to the top. The coastal path to Clarach and Borth runs past the front of the station.

About

Currently 56 NCI stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteers keeping watch around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Hornsea in the East Riding of Yorkshire.

NCI watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the NCI ensures that high standards are met.
