During 2020 all NCI stations closed for two months at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. On re-opening most stations were single-crewed for the rest of the year.

46887 02/08/2023 NCI Rhoscolyn MOP informed NCI a girl had injured her ankle, possibly broken. HMCG informed, CRT tasked. Casualty kept comfortable by MOP, W/K monitored. CRT had difficulty recovering casualty by foot as no , vehicle access. Ambulance eventually dispatched, and although NCI closed for evening, W/K monitored privately and coordinated rendezvous between ambulance and CRT. NCI No Yes 526685
46891 02/08/2023 NCI Felixstowe NCI were informed of a major search for a MISPER, assistance requested. CRT, ILB, AWLB involved after wheelchair found abandoned. NCI searched with Binos and camera, and reviewed CCTV footage., CG HELO tasked, and FW Aircraft then joined search. All day search continued with no conclusion - casualty not located. Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire. 

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
