THIEVES BREAK INTO NCI WHITSTABLE STATION

28th April 2018. Thieves have broken into the National Coastwatch Institution station at Whitstable causing extensive damage.

The break-in at the converted beach hut at Marine Terrace near Tankerton Sailing Club is believed to have happened overnight and was first reported to police by a dog walker this morning. The door to the station was left smashed with glass strewn inside the property and valuable life-saving equipment was stolen. The thieves stole a tripod, a monocular telescope and six hand-held radios. Three of the radios have since been recovered near Swalecliffe skate park.A money spinner cash charity container was also removed and was also found near the skate park.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police received a report that a hut in Whitstable had been burgled at 8.07am on Saturday, April 28.  At present no suspects have been identified and enquiries are ongoing." If anyone has any information about this attack on the life-saving charity-run station at NCI Whitstable, please contact Kent Police.
