ROTARY CLUB SUPPORT NCI HENGISTBURY HEAD.

2nd August 2022. The Revd Chris College is one of the volunteer Watchkeepers at the National Coastwatch Institution station at Hengistbury Head and, for the past year, has also been the President of Westbourne Rotary Club.  Very generously Chris nominated NCI Hengistbury Head along with McMillan Hospice as his two President’s charities for the year.

Ed Essery (Deputy Station Manager at NCI Hengistbury Head) announced “We have today received a donation of £3,871.40 from Westbourne Rotary Club as a result of Chris’s nomination.  When added to the £460 already received for the Zip wire challenge earlier in the year, the total donated to us for the year is £4,331.40. This is a remarkable achievement by Chris and the whole team at Westbourne Rotary Club, especially considering that the McMillan Hospice has also received over £4,000.  Thank you Chris!”

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire.

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
