NCI EXMOUTH WELCOMES VISITORS FROM SEDHRP

7th September 2018. The Volunteers at NCI Exmouth were visited by members of the South East Devon Habitat Regulations Partnership.

Habitat Mitigation Officers Amelia Davies and Sama Euridge visited the NCI lookout at Exmouth to take a look at their view of the River Exe and Dawlish Warren habitats. Their prime function is to regulate and reduce the human impact on the Special Protection Areas on the River. But they also monitor unruly marine behaviour and safety issues, so are happy to develop a close working relationship with National Coastwatch as their function of advising water safety will complement NCI Exmouth’s work of providing the eyes along the coast. We hope to see a lot more of their patrol vessel the Branta Isca in the future

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire.

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
