NCI EXMOUTH CELEBRATE LONG SERVICE AND NEW RECRUITS

13th September 2016. Members of NCI Exmouth were presented with their Long Service badges and certificates today in recognition of their dedication to the station while some new watch keepers were also welcomed as part of the team.

David Whitworth was presented with his 10 years’ service badge and a certificate by Station Manager Graham Nye, while Gordon Betteridge received his five years’ service badge. Graham also took this opportunity to welcome newly qualified watch keepers Mike Greenwood, David Marten and Tim Sewel to the team at NCI Exmouth.

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire. 

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
