NCI EXMOUTH AWARDED CHARITY OF THE YEAR

19th May 2017. NCI Exmouth has won the Exmouth Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Charity of the Year award for 2017.

At a gala dinner at the Ocean, attended by over 200 guests representing businesses from Exmouth and beyond, NCI Exmouth were presented with the award for Social Enterprise / Charity of the year by the Rt. Hon. Sir Hugo Swire KCMG.

Station Manager Graham Nye said “Winning this award is a tribute to all our watchkeepers for the work we do for the Exmouth community and visitors alike and I would like to thank you all for your support. This prestigious award will continue to raise our profile in and around East Devon. Great credit must also go to the media team who put together our presentation and to those who voted for us on line”.

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire. 

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
