LOCAL SWIMMERS DONATE £200 TO NCI FELIXSTOWE

24th September 2021 The volunteers of NCI Felixstowe want to say a big thank you to Felixstowe Seascapes Swimmers for their very generous donation of £200.

The photograph shows Station Fundraising Manager Dick Daniels being presented with the cheque by Swimscapes' Chairperson, Louise Waterhouse-Taylor. Afterwards Dick gave a brief talk to their members about what the National Coastwatch Institution do nationally.

Felixstowe Swimscapes regularly work with the watchkeepers at NCI Felixstowe when they have members swimming - so that the station can keep an eye on them and the swimmers always have dayglo bags with them to make them easy to spot, even in rougher seas.

About

Currently almost 60 National Coastwatch stations are operational and manned by over 2600 volunteer watchkeepers around the British Isles from Fleetwood in the North West, through Wales, to the South and East of England to Filey in North Yorkshire.

National Coastwatch watchkeepers provide the eyes and ears along the coast, monitoring radio channels and providing a listening watch in poor visibility. They are trained to deal with emergencies offering a variety of skills and experience, and full training by the National Coastwatch ensures that high standards are met.
